Welcome to River North
Art and culture find their home in Chicago's liveliest neighborhood
River North is a Chicago neighborhood that's seen many changes over the last hundred years. At its beginning, factories, forges, and warehouses filled the area. These facilities used the Chicago River to transport goods in and out of the city. However, widely successful developer Albery Friedman didn’t see River North’s potential as a residential community until the 1970s. Over the next few decades, what Friedman started blossomed into a district with the highest concentration of art galleries outside of Manhattan. River North is now an in-demand arts district teeming with nightlife activity and ideally situated for creative, young professionals.
